Hash Hill Racers Travel To Texas, Iowa; Dash Places Second In Rapid City


Local motocross competitors riding with Hash Hill travelled recently to Texas, Iowa and South Dakota for a variety of races. Hash Hill, located near Culbertson on the south side of U.S. Highway 2 near the Big Muddy, is a privately owned practice track opperated by Michael and Keri Hauenstein for the benefit of children Asher and Hayden.
“We left for Texas on Dec. 26th to race the Texas Winter Series, Race 1, in Wortham, Texas,” said Keri Hauenstein. “It was Asher, Hadyn and Brandon Becker. During the first day of training, Brandon had a wreck and broke his elbow. Asher and Hadyn practiced and trained until Wednesday afternoon when the rain started. By Thursday morning the race was cancelled due to flooding.”
In pursuit of open competitions, the Hash Hill team then set their sights on races in Iowa. Said Hauenstein, “We were notified about the Hoosier Arena Cross Races in Council Bluff and decided to load up with Eastyn Krogh and his dad Kyle to head to Iowa. We missed Friday’s race due to weather. Saturday the kids competed, which will be televised Feb. 12th. Asher finished 5th in the 50 Open B, Hadyn finished 4th in the Girls Class. Eastyn Krogh finished 5th in the 50 7-8 and the 50 Open B.”
Last weekend, Hadyn and Asher and area riders affiliated with Hash Hill competed in Rapid City, SD, at the 4GMX Arena Cross.
Main Event placers at Rapid City from Hash Hill included: In the 50 4-6 Class, Bridger Brooks placed 5th and Asher placed 12th after a wreck; 50 Open A Class, Bridger Brooks placed 10th; 50 Open B Class, Asher Hauenstein took second and Bridger Brooks took third; 65 7-9 Class, Kayson Mc- Lean (12th); 85 C Class, Kaige McLean took 16th; Open C Class, Kyle Stahl (8th); 450 B Class, Ron Stahl (6th); 250 C Class, Kyle Stahl (11th).
