Culbertson School Board Meets, Salvevold Resigns
The Culbertson School Board held its regular meeting Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Board member Gy Salvevold submitted his resignation, which the board approved. His letter reads, “I am extremely proud of the work that we have done together over the past ten years. Our administration and board have overcome many obstacles together and have kept everything moving forward for the betterment of our students. We have the best administrations, staff, and board around,and I know that it will continue to move in that direction.”
Reports were presented. Activities Director Dave Solem said that elementary basketball is no in progress with 11 girls and eight boys participating. He mentioned the Speech and Drama competitions at virtual meets and said the NFHS camera has been operating well so far this season.
Principal Mike Olson spoke to various office meetings and training sessions held in January and said the district science fair will be held Feb. 11 in the new elementary gym.
During the superintendent’s report, Larry Crowder said he has been working with members of the Eastern C Division football to develop a fall season schedule. He also said the annual Montana High School Association meeting would be conducted remotely and listed items for consideration in preparation of the Feb. board meeting. Those items included possible guest teacher applications, 2021-22 school calendar, trustee and levy election declarations and school election judge appointments.
The health and safety plan was reviewed. A motion was made to pay January bills, approve investments, note cash and extracurricular balances. The motion carried. Minutes were approved for the Dec. 15 meeting.
The next regular meeting is set for Feb. 16.
