Azure Repeats As Wolf Point’s Spelling Champion


There was a repeat winner in the Wolf Point Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 29.
Griffin Azure, an eighth-grade student, earned the title for the second straight year.
In the ninth round, Azure and Shiloh Headress were the only two of 24 participants remaining in the competitions. Azure spelled “stretcher” correctly while Headress had a mistake in that round. Azure than spelled “mustard” correctly to earn the title.
Ezekial Gourneau placed third. Tying for fourth were Cante’ Grey Bull and Logan Wolff. The top four placers qualified for the Roosevelt County Spelling Bee to take place in Bainville.
There were 10 students still competing in Wolf Point’s event after five rounds. Three contestants missed out in the next round to leave five boys and two girls remaining.
