Piocos Appointed As Roosevelt County Attorney
The Roosevelt County Commissioners unanimously appointed Frank A. Piocos as the new county attorney on Monday, Feb. 1.
Piocos will finish the term of Austin Knudsen, who was elected the state’s new attorney general in November. Piocos starts the new job immediately.
His appointment will last under Dec. 31, 2022. The next general election is scheduled for Nov. 1, 2022, and then the elected county attorney will be sworn in on Jan. 1, 2023.
Piocos was previously the deputy county attorney for Roosevelt County.
“It has been a roller coaster ride for me at the county attorney’s office during the past almost three years, mainly due to the results of the past two elections,” Piocos said. “I have had the privilege and opportunity to work closely with the past two county attorneys: Ralph Patch who picked me as his deputy county attorney, and Austin Knudsen, who asked me to stay on here and is now Montana’s Attorney General. Our office has some jury trials just weeks away and our legal assistant Donna Reum is retiring this year. So lots of chaos and changes to our office this year.”
The county commissioners are now actively seeking to fill the deputy county attorney position.
