Bulldogs Fall Short To Lustre
Lustre Christian posted two close basketball victories in Bainville Thursday, Feb. 11.
In the girls’ game, Lustre won by a 48-43 score in overtime. The game was deadlocked at 43-43 after regulation. Aubri Holzrichter hit four free throws in overtime.
Bainville led by a 22-21 halftime margin but trailed 32-30 after three quarters of play.
Top scorers for the Lions were Holzrichter with 19 and Alexa Reddig with 10. Also scoring were Tiara Whitmus with nine, Grace Brown with eight and Ashley O’Hara with two.
Leading the Bulldogs with 10 points each were Elsie Wilson and Kaitylyn Adkins. Also scoring were Tally Berwick with eight, Brecklyn Pippenger with five, Sadie Ullmer with four, Lakyn Rabbe with four and Kendra Romo with two.
Lustre’s boys won by a 45-40 final.
Bainville gained an 11-5 lead in the first quarter as Jesse Strickland and Braeden Romo each hit three-pointers.
The Bulldogs led 21-16 at intermission.
Lustre accounted for 19 points in the third quarter to grab a 35-25 advantage.
Kolden Hoversland was Luster’s top scorer with 14 points. Also scoring were Cayden Klatt with eight, Elijah Lenihan with eight, Braeden Toavs with five, Kaleb Hoversland with four, Jasiah Hambira with four and Josh Brown with two.
Romo led Bainville with 15 points.
Rounding out Bainville’s scoring were Jesse Strickland with nine, Kaden Hansen with nine, Sam Butikofer with three and Chuck Butikofer with two.
