Fort Peck Community College has announced that Michael Cooper as the Student of the Year for 2020/2001.

Cooper embodies the Buffalo Chaser spirit and values during his time at FPCC. He demonstrates a strong commitment to academics while balancing family and community responsibilities.

Cooper is one of 37 students from across the country as being a Tribal College and Student of the Year for the 2020/21 Academic Year.

“I have lived in Poplar all my life I never knew what the Fort Peck Community College had to offer, since starting college for the second time I have been given countless opportunities to achieve what I set out to do,” Cooper said. “Getting my degree will hopefully inspire my family and friends to finish or go back to school and know that it is never too late. My hopes are that my children are inspired by me and are willing to put forth the effort to go to college and achieve their dreams. I want the community to know that the college has many resources available to help you achieve your educational goals no matter what the situation is.”

Preview Day is scheduled for Friday, March 5, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. During Preview Day, enrolled students who will benefit from this funding into the Native Pathways High School College Choice Program. Currently enrolled 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades students attending reservation- based and/or BIE funded high schools are eligible to participate.

The virtual event will utilize Zoom Video Conferencing and will be advertised regularly leading up to the event on the FPCC Facebook Page. The event is targeting high school students and their parents/guardians. All Adult Basic Education students and graduates are also encouraged to attend the event.
