Cowgirls Drop First-round Game

Despite a strong comeback in the third quarter, Culbertson’s girls lost to Circle, 43-28, in the first round of the District 2C tournament in Sidney on Monday, Feb. 15.

Behind by a 21-14 half-time margin, the Cowgirls scored the first seven points of the third quarter for a 21-21 deadlock. Megan Granbois scored four of the points.

Circle led 26-21 at the end of the third quarter. Tina Hogan scored five points for the Wildcats in the period.

Circle outscored Culbertson, 17-7, in the final margin. Sierra Nagle hit six free throws in the quarter.

Granbois finished with 13 points to lead the Cowgirls. Makena Hauge added seven points. Also scoring were Autumn Bergum with four, Destiney Thompson with three and Alicyn Ator with one.

Top scorers for Circle were Alexis Moline and Ryann Moline with 10 points each.

The Wildcats led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter.
