Lions Open Tournament With Victory
Lustre’s boys’ basketball team opened the District 3C tournament with a 70-36 victory over Nashua on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
After leading only 9-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Lions accounted for 26 points in the second period for a 35-15 advantage.
Lustre led 47-21 after three quarters of play.
Leading the Lions were Kolden Hoversland with 29 and Cayden Klatt with 17 points.
Also scoring for Lustre were Jasiah Hambria with six, Braden Ewing with six, Elijah Lenihan with five, Kaleb Hoversland with five and Bryan Chen with two.
Top scorers for Nashua were Trace Laumeyer with 15 and Fletcher Clampitt with 11 points.
The Lions then lost to Scobey, 59-24, in the semi-final round.
Lustre trailed only 10-8 at the end of the first quarter, but the Spartans scored 14 points in the second quarter and 20 more in the third quarter for a 44-18 advantage.
Kaleb Hoversland scored 11 points for Lustre. Also scoring for the Lions were Cayden Klatt with six, Kolden Hoversland with three, Elijah Lenihan with two and Jasiah Hambria with two.
Top scorers for Scobey were Jayce Tande with 16 and Aidan Fishell with 15 points.
