Fifteen gymnasts from Eastern Montana Gymnastics competed in the Yellowstone Invitational Meet in Billings on Feb. 28. Four of the gymnasts earned top all-around awards, which were awarded in each age group, depending on the number of entrants.

Gold gymnasts Lina Smith, Richey, and Jada Sportsman, Glendive, won first place for their all-around scores in their age groups and silver gymnasts Kynlee Houck, Glendive, and Ella Beery, Richey, won second and third places, respectively, in their age groups. This was also the first competitive meet for Houck and teammate Aralyn Jensen, Circle.

Lina Smith and Sage Sportsman, Glendive, competed in the older age group of 15 gold gymnasts. Besides her first-place all-around, Smith was second on balance beam, had third places on vault and uneven bars and was ninth on floor. Sportsman was fourth on beam, seventh on floor, tied for ninth on vault and eighth for her all-around score.

Competing in the younger age group of 12 gold gymnasts were Jada Sportsman and teammates Ava Hove and Lily Beery, Circle, and Kate Nasner of Wolf Point. Jada Sportsmen earned a first place on uneven bars, a tie for first on balance beam, a tie for second on floor and third place on vault to go with her first place all-around. Hove was tied for fourth on beam, tied for fifth on bars and was seventh on floor. Nasner was tied for fifth on vault and was eighth on beam. Beery was seventh on beam and eighth on bars.

Aspen Boje, Glendive, competed in the middle age group of 14 gold gymnasts and finished tied for fifth place on vault, tied for seventh place on beam and was in ninth place for her all-around.

Silver gymnast Kynlee Houck competed in the middle age group of five gymnasts and, besides her second- place all-around finish in her first meet, was second on beam and third on floor.

Five of EMG’s silver gymnasts competed in the younger age group of 11 gymnasts. Besides Ella Beery’s thirdplace all-around finish, she was second on vault, third on bars and tied for seventh on floor. Ashlynn Johannessen of Wolf Point, just missed the special all-around awards with her fourth-place finish. She also was tied for fourth on vault, fifth for floor, sixth for bars and seventh for beam. Emma Hove, of Circle, was sixth on vault, while Justine Massar, Circle, was second on bars and Aralyn Jensen was seventh on vault in her first meet.

Ali and Abbey Gibbs, Circle, competed in the older silver age group of 11 gymnasts. Ali Gibbs was tied for sixth on beam and Abbey Gibbs was sixth for her vault.

Gold scores (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor, All-Around): Jada Sportsman (8.95, 9.65, 9.25, 9.1, 36.95), Lina Smith (9.15, 9.4, 9.3, 8.9, 36.75), Sage Sportsman (8.9, 8.6, 9.05, 9.05, 35.6), Aspen Boje (9.0, 8.8, 8.7, 8.95, 35.45), Ava Hove (7.7, 9.35, 8.75, 8.8, 34.6), Kate Nasner (8.75, 8.95, 8.1, 8.7, 34.5), Lily Beery (8.5, 9.0, 8.35, 8.5, 34.35).

Silver scores: Ella Beery (9.05, 9.5, 8.7, 8.9, 36.15), Ashlynn Johannessen (8.9, 9.15, 8.85, 9.05, 35.95), Kynlee Houck (8.55, 9.2, 9.05, 8.85, 35.65), Ali Gibbs (8.5, 8.7, 9.0, 8.8, 35.0), Abbey Gibbs (8.95, 8.65, 8.6, 8.55, 34.75), Emma Hove (8.45, 8.5, 8.65, 8.6, 34.2), Justine Massar (8.0, 8.3, 9.15, 8.7, 34.15), Aralyn Jensen (8.3, 8.35, 8.15, 7.75, 32.55).

The entire EMG team of 19 gymnasts is planning to attend the last meet of the regular season for the Circle gym in Watford City, N.D., which will be followed by the Montana State Gymnastics Championships.
