Success Prints Crash Course Visits Students At Roosevelt County Schools
Montana State University associate professor Tricia Seifert visited Culbertson School Feb. 25 with her Success Prints Crash Course game for college preparation and time management training.
The course is a college simulation strategy game designed to help students prepare for college admissions.
Seifert also visited classrooms on the Fort Peck Reservation Feb. 22-24, including stops in Brockton and Poplar.
According to Culbertson teacher Mary Machart, Seifert’s stop in Culbertson went well: ”I found it interesting how all four groups had to utilize their problem solving skills to start with,” said Machart. “Students became engaged as they realized how real to life everything about this game is! Crash Course provides a fun way to teach students about the realities of life after High School!”
Seifert told the Northern Plains Independent that she developed parts of the game in Culbertson classrooms.
“From the beginning, this project has been situated in the community of folks who care about helping students transition to and succeed in postsecondary education,” said Seifert. “We have not just connected with teachers, counselors, coaches, student affairs educators and parents, we have reached out and learned from high school and college students themselves.”
She added, “It’s this collective insight that has helped us create a more realistic game and sparked ideas for expansion packs and additional games that invite students to glimpse the future and realize their potential.”
