Commissioners Approve Purchase
The Roosevelt County commissioners held their regular meeting Tuesday, March 9.
Commissioners Gary Macdonald, Duane Nygaard and Gordon Oelkers were in attendance.
Commissioners approved a request to purchase a temperature control alarm for a patrol car at a cost of approximately $3,000. The vote was 2-1, with Macdonald voting no.
The alarm is designed to prevent harm coming to the department’s drug dog.
Commissioner Macdonald said he felt the expense was excessive, adding that detecting temperatures hot or cold enough to hurt a canine should qualify as common sense. Oelkers said the funds will come from drug forfeiture monies and added that the canine represents an investment of $20,000 and should be protected.
A resolution was passed to cancel real property taxes dating back more than 10 years. The total amount canceled was $4,428.
Claims were approved for March 5 in the amount of $207,836.84.
James Magnan was approved for a raise with the detention center. Joshua Miller was approved for rehire with the detention center.
Minutes were passed for the March 2 public meeting.
