Froid/Lake Girls Lose In Semi-final Round
The Froid/Lake girls lost by a 64-19 final to North Country in the semi-final round of the Eastern C divisional tournament on Thursday, March 4.
Froid/Lake was able to stay close during the very early stages of the game. A basket by Dasani Nesbit tied the game at 2-2.
The Red Hawks took a 5-2 lead on a three-pointer by Sydney Dethman with 4:44 left in the opening quarter.
North Country then ran off the next 13 points and went on to take a 19-7 lead at the end of the quarter.
A basket by Nesbit put the score at 19-11 early in the second quarter. North Country then accounted for the last 17 points of the half for a 36-11 lead.
The Mavericks struck for the first 10 points of the third quarter until Froid/Lake’s Mara Salvevold scored with 2:30 left in the third quarter. North Country led 53-15 at the end of the period.
Top scorers for the Red Hawks were Dethman with five, Carolyne Christoffersen with four and Nesbit with four. Salvevold added two points.
Leading North Country were Kaitlyn McColly and Kia Wasson with 15 points each. Teagan Erickson had 11 points.
