Froid/Lake Falls In Title Contest
After a close first quarter, the Froid/Lake Red Hawks lost to Scobey, 69-44, in the Eastern C divisional championship game in Sidney on Saturday, March 6.
A three-pointer by Javonne Nesbit and two free throws by Colt Miller produced an early 5-5 deadlock. Scobey then scored 13 of the next 15 points including seven by Reagan Machart and six by Jayde Tande for an 18-7 lead.
A baseline shot by Bode Miller and a three-pointer by Tyler Wivholm helped the Red Hawks close the margin to 20-12 at the end of the quarter.
A three-point play and three-point shot by B. Miller kept the Red Hawks close at 28-20 during the second quarter. Froid/Lake trailed 38-28 at the half.
The Spartans gained control with the opening nine points of the third quarter for a 47-28 margin. Froid/Lake battled back to 50-37 on the scoring of Wivholm, Mason Dethman, C. Miller and B. Miller to end the period.
Scobey, however, accounted for 11 of the first 14 points of the fourth quarter.
C. Miller led the Red Hawks with 13 points. B. Miller and Nesbit added nine points each. Also scoring were Dethman with eight and Wivholm with five.
Top scorers for Scobey were Aiden Fishell with 25, Machart with 12, Tande with 11 and Caden Handran with 10. Handran had seven assists.
