Red Hawks Beat Plentywood In First Round
Froid/Lake’s boys dominated play in the third quarter to knock off Plentywood, 58-36, in the first round of the Eastern C divisional basketball tournament in Sidney on Thursday, March 4.
The Red Hawks led by a 32-20 half-time margin and extended the gap to 39-20 with the opening seven points of the third quarter on a drive by Javonne Nesbit, three free throws by Bode Miller and a pair of free throws by Mason Dethman.
After Plentywood’s Cayden Trupe connected on a three-pointer, the Red Hawks struck for the last six points of the quarter on a basket by Tyler Wivholm off a pass from Nesbit, a hoop by Nesbit on an assist from Wivholm and a drive by Dethman for a 45-23 advantage.
Baskets by Wivholm and a fast-break layup by Dethman put the Red Hawks by a comfortable 56-31 margin with 3:24 remaining.
