Wolf Point Gets New Cell Tower

Equipment was installed to a new cell tower for T-Mobile located at Burkie Park on Monday, March 8.

Erik Johannessen, owner of Dakota Wireless, said the tower is about 80 feet tall. He’s been told that the tower will be operational by the end of this month.

“There are a lot of dead spots in town that this will hit,” Johannessen said. “A lot of my customers have waited for this tower before they switched service.”

He explained that the current T-Mobile tower is located about nine miles north of Wolf Point on the Lustre road. About two years ago, Johannessen approached T-Mobile officials regarding that improved service was needed.

The process for this tower began in April 2019. Since that time, the FCC and the City of Wolf Point have been approved plans.

The project’s cement pads were put in last fall.
