All 19 gymnasts on the Eastern Montana Gymnastics Team attended the NoDak Northern Lights Gymnastics Meet in Watford City on March 5-7. A total of 491 gymnasts competed at the meet.

In their last meet of the regular season, both EMG teams won third place, out of the eight teams in the gold level and the nine teams in the silver level. Two of the EMG Gold gymnasts won special awards at the meet, with Jada Sportsman, of Glendive, winning one for her 9.7 routine on the uneven bars and Jill Deserly, of Wolf Point, winning one for her perseverance on her floor routine, after her music quit and she calmly continued on.

Ten EMG gymnasts competed in the Gold level on Friday, March 5. Five of them competed in the A age group of nine gymnasts. Jada Sportsman earned first all-around honors, with Lily Beery, of Circle, at fourth and Ava Hove, of Circle, at sixth. On vault, Sportsman was second, Beery was third and Kate Nasner, of Wolf Point, was tied for fourth.

On uneven bars, Sportsman was first, Beery was second, Hove was fourth and Nasner was sixth. On balance beam, Sportsman was second, Hove was fourth and Beery was fifth. For the floor, Sportsman was tied for first, Hove was fourth and Beery was sixth. Ella Beery also competed in this age group in her first Gold level meet after moving up from the Silver level. She had her best score on floor.

In the Gold B age group, out of nine gymnasts, Aspen Boje and Kendra Linder, both of Glendive, competed. Boje earned second places on the beam and floor, while Linder was in sixth place on floor. Boje also was fourth for her all-around and sixth for her vault.

Lina Smith, of Richey, was the only EMG gymnast in the D age group of eight gymnasts. She finished with fourth places for all-around, uneven bars and floor, while earning sixth places on vault and beam.

In the G age group of 10 gymnasts, Jill Deserly was second for her all-around, uneven bars and floor. Sage Sportsman, of Glendive, was third on balance beam, with Deserly at fourth. Deserly also was third on vault.

In the Silver Level, nine EMG gymnasts competed in six different age groups on Sunday, March 7. Ali Gibbs, of Circle, led her team in the G age group of seven gymnasts with a first place on balance beam, second places for her all-around and floor and third place on bars. Abbey Gibbs, also of Circle, competed in the H age group, out of 10 gymnasts, and had fifth places on bars, beam and a tie for vault. She was in sixth place for all-around and floor.

In the E age group of nine gymnasts, DaRae Deserly, of Wolf Point, was fourth on beam and floor and was fifth on bars and all-around. Kynlee Houck, of Glendive, and Nomi Deserly, of Wolf Point, competed in the D age group of 10 gymnasts. Houck was third on floor, fifth on bars and seventh for her allaround while Nomi was seventh on vault.

In the younger age groups, Ashlynn Johannessen, of Wolf Point, competed in the C age group of eight gymnasts and Emma Hove, Justine Massar and Aralyn Jensen, all of Circle, competed in the A age group of eight gymnasts. Jensen was third on beam and had fifth places on bars, floor and all-around. Emma had fifth places on vault, beam and floor and was sixth for her all-around. Massar was in sixth place on bars and Jensen had her best placing on floor.

The EMG team is now preparing for the Montana State Gymnastics Championships which will be held in Bozeman in several weeks.
