The Lustre Christian Lions feature 14 high school track athletes including six with some experience this season.

The squad includes three athletes who have enjoyed high school success.

Tiara Whitmus, a senior, is strong in throwing events for the Lions.

Braeden Toavs, a senior, is expected to enjoy success in middle distance runs, long jump and the shot put.

Sean Uy, a junior, looks for a solid season in throws and sprints this spring.

The squad also features three freshmen who competed well at the junior high level. That group includes Canyon Klatt in distance runs, Aubri Holzrichter in the long jump and middle distances and Alexa Reddig in springs and hurdles.

Coach Lynn Unrau, who is in her sixth year coaching the Lions’ track team, says the 14-member roster includes eight girls and six boys. As far as the team’s strength, Unrau said, “We have so many new kids, it’s hard to say.”

An accomplishment two years ago was Lustre qualifying athletes for the Class C state meet.

“I think we have a good shot of getting kids to State again this year,” Unrau said. The Lions will open their season at the Glasgow Invitational on Thursday, April 1.
