Culbertson Woman Faces Assault Charges

Mada Lyn Bergie of Culbertson is facing two counts of assault with a weapon and a misdemeanor partner or family member assault charge. She is scheduled to make her initial appearance in district court on Wednesday, April 14.

Maximum penalties for the assault charges are 20 years in prison, a $50,000 fine or both.

One of the assault charges involves her allegedly hitting her husband with a baseball bat in March. The other assault charge involves her allegedly hitting her husband on the head on a later day in March.

According to court records, a Roosevelt County deputy was called regarding a report of an assault and a stolen vehicle in Culbertson March 22.

When the deputy arrived, he spoke with Bergie’s husband who said his wife hit him in the right eye with her fist and on top of his head with an unknown object, possibly an ax handle.

The husband also said that a few days earlier that his wife hit him with a baseball bat in the right leg. The deputy photographed the injuries.
