Individuals Sentenced In District Court
Three sentences and a petition to revoke probation were among the hearings in front of District Judge David J. Cybulski in Wolf Point on Wednesday, April 14.
Clifford Evan Briscoe of Poplar received a five-year suspended sentence and was fined $1,000 for the charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs. John Jason Dennis, 46, received a one-year deferred sentence and was fined $5,000 for being in possession of dangerous drugs-cocaine.
When Dennis changed his plea to guilty in March, he admitted that while at the Stateline Casino, an officer saw cocaine in plain view while the officer was looking in vehicles with a flashlight.
Christopher Lee Gustafson received a five-year deferred sentence and a $1,500 fine for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. It was Gustafson’s first felony and he is regarded as a low risk of re-offending.
“It’s been a real learning experience,” Gustafson said to the judge. “It’s an eye opener to get back on track.”
Gary Ray Jones had a petition of revocation hearing after violating his condition of probation by being convicted of an assault. Based on a plea agreement, Cybulski sentenced Jones to two five-year suspended sentences to run concurrently.
