Culbertson Town Council Plans Clean Up Day
Olson Stresses Fire Safety
The Culbertson Town Council held their regular monthly meeting Monday, May 10.
A clean up day is planned for May 15 at 10 a.m. Local residents hoping to help with clean-up efforts should meet at the town office for supplies. By noon, participants will end up at Ike’s Fishing Pond and Walking Trail, where activities will include fishing the recently stocked pond. Representatives from Fish, Wildlife & Parks will be present and their will be a cookout with ice cream, burgers, hot dogs and a fundraiser drawing. Call 406-787-5271 for more information.
The agenda, April 12 meeting minutes, financials and claims were reviewed and approved by the council.
Roosevelt County Fire Warden Mike Olson visited the council and stressed the need for heightened fire safety. He said area residents should construct a defensible perimeter around their homes. He also said act CRP contract holders should install fire breaks.
Tiffany Nielsen was hired to manage the pool Culbertson. The Culbertson Womens Club raised the possibility of the town contributing to a matching fund for improvements at the bathhouse. The council agreed to consider the idea.
During public comment, Raedell Aspenlieder provided a list of area properties currently out of compliance with town ordinances. Ashtyn Primeau addressed the council to get their feelings about a possible marijuana dispensary to be located within town limits. No firm plans were discussed. The council agreed to look into the issue and gather more information.
The next regular meeting is set for June 14.
