Froid’s Kaitlyn Dahlberg told the

Community News that her recent decision to begin serving food and beverages from a mobile eatery was born out of a passion for entrepreneurship.

“I have been a barista for over six years and have always had an interest in my own business,” said Dahlberg. “I knew specialty drinks would be part of my business but wanted more and that’s the rest of the menu: breakfast sandwiches, burgers and homemade treats. I didn’t want to be in one permanent location so I started to look into a food trailer.”

Dahlberg had a soft opening in Froid May 10. A trial schedule has her split between Froid and Brockton. For the foreseeable future, she’ll be setting up at Lodahl’s Auto Repair in Froid from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. She spends Mondays in Brockton at Fred’s Grill and Casino. This coming Saturday, June 5, Dahlberg will be at the Sheridan Classics Car Club Motorcraze Weekend at the Civic Center in Plentywood.

When we visited on May 31 in Brockton, a steady stream of cars and trucks kept the line a few people deep. Dahlberg said she’s been involved with coffee for as long as she can remember.

“Coffee has always been a part of my life,” she said. “I was introduced to coffee by my grandparents, parents and aunts. I worked with my aunts at The Perkulator in Poplar when they first purchased the business and continued working as a barista in Minot, ND, at Kaffee Kiosk while attending college and stayed working there after graduation. I always love mixing drinks up and the look on a customer’s face when they try the drink. I even wrote my honors thesis on coffee.”

Dahlberg graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Minot State University in 2016, where her majors includedbusinessmanagement, marketing and international business. When she isn’t serving food and drinks, Dahlberg does her part on the family farm.

“I was born and raised on the family farm north of Brockton and attended school K-12 in Froid,” she said. “I started farming with my dad and still do. I am the seeder, spreader and combine driver.”

Dahlberg said to keep a look out for her at area events this summer.

“I am at many events during the summer. The Dirty Shame Show in Scobey, the Daniels Centennial and hopefully Sheridan County Fair.” Kaitlyn’s Espresso, Eats & Sweets can be reached at 406-480-9551 or via Facebook.
