School Staff Receive Honors To End Year

At the end of a school year like no other, the Wolf Point School District honored some of its employees in a new fashion on Friday, June 4.

Teachers and other staff members from each school were saluted during a dinner at the Wolf Point Airport Golf Club.

Sarah Chambers, Wolf Point’s curriculum director, explained a survey was sent out to all staff members. They voted for the top certified and classified staff member for Northside, Southside, Wolf Point Junior High and Wolf Point High School.

“We need to recognize staff members for the jobs that they’ve done,” Chambers said.

Because of challenges presented with COVID throughout the school year, administrators felt this was a good year to start the awards. Chambers hopes that the honors are conducted every year.

“Teachers need to feel valued especially for the hard work they did during COVID,” Chambers said.

Wolf Point Principal Kim Hanks agreed that the awards were a good way to recognize staff members’ dedication.

Sponsors for the meals were Northern Prairie, Fox Ford, High Plains, Opportunity Bank, First Community Bank, CHMS, Harry’s Nite Club, Stockman’s Bar and Dad’s Bar and Grill.

Receiving awards for Southside Elementary School were Joelle Page for certified staff member and Ellen Sievers for classified staff members.

For Northside Elementary School, Dezi Adams received the award for certified staff member and Beth Olsen was the winner for classified staff members.

Honored for the junior high school were Wyatt Murdoch for certified staff member and Jeff Bledsaw as classified staff members.

Awards at the high school went to Teresa Romo for certified staff member and Shirley Vandall for classified staff member.

LaRae Hanks earned the award for district staff member.

Award winners received gift certificates for Smokehouse barbecue.
