Culbertson Hires New Coaches

The Culbertson School Board replaced two varsity coaches during its monthly meeting held on Tuesday, June 15.

Mark Pederson was hired to become the new head boys’ basketball coach. He was one of the program’s assistant coaches this past season. Trustees unanimously approved Pederson being hired.

Pederson’s coaching career has included duties in Twin Bridges, Hinsdale and Circle. He will also serve as an assistant high school football coach.

Colby McGinnis was hired as the school’s new head girls’ basketball coach. McGinnis was hired on a 3-2 vote.

McGinnis played his high school basketball in Fairview. He has served as an assistant coach in both Fairview and Culbertson.

The athletic committee recommended to open up other positions. Motions to advertise for head golf and head track passed by a 3-2 motion. Trustees Luke Anderson and Paul Finnicum voted against the motion.

Trustees voted to hire Logan Nickoloff as the 7-12 grade agriculture education teacher by using an emergency certification. Required coursework for the endorsement should take about three years.

A fifth-grade team teaching proposal for Angi Iverson and Lee Vandall was approved for one year.
