Letters To The Editor

Dear Editor:

While reading the article in your newspaper about the actions of the school board, I was glad at least they abide by the Montana Constitution. This concerned some of the school board members wanting to add additional items to the agenda without prior notification.

As demonstrated in the past, the Roosevelt County commissioners obviously feel they are above the laws of the State of Montana when they added the stipend item for discussion. This item appeared on the agenda the morning of the meeting, no prior notice to the public so they could be involved in the outcome. Based on what I have heard in later meetings, I don’t think the outcome would have been any different. The commissioners had their minds made up no matter what anyone said. They needed your tax dollars.

The action taken violated Article II, Section 8 of the Montana Constitution. I asked the county attorney if there would be any action because of the violation. I was told he is hired to protect the commissioners. I was misled to believe that the county attorney should prosecute all law breakers, especially elected officials. Sorry, I was wrong again.
