Froid/Medicine Lake Wins Title At Minor Baseball Tourney

The Froid/Medicine Lake Reds captured the Big Muddy Minor League Baseball championship by outscoring Culbertson, 20-4, in the title game held in Scobey on Sunday, June 27.

After the Reds took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Culbertson responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.

Froid/Lake accounted for five more runs in the top of the second for a 10-2 advantage. A hard-hit ball by Kline Fossum highlighted the inning.

Culbertson cut the gap to 10-3 in the bottom of the second. Memphis Heard accounted for a nice hit in the frame.

The Reds struck for five runs in the third and five more runs in the fourth for the 20-4 final.

Aaron Orozco pitched a strong first three innings to lead Froid/Lake to the victory.

Froid/Lake defeated Stockman Bank of Plentywood in the first round and then knocked off Scobey in the semi-final round.

After losing to Scobey in the opening round, Culbertson downed RMB and Stockman Bank. Culbertson then advanced over Scobey when a pitching limit violation caused Scobey to forfeit the game.
