Area Wrestlers Earn National Honors Area Wrestlers Earn National Honors

Three female wrestlers from the area competed and came away with honors at the Disney Duals’ wrestling showcase held in Orlando, Fla.

Poplar’s Jazmin Gorder posted an 11-2 record and earned a bronze medal. Gorder, who is entering her senior year in high school, competed at 112 pounds.

Amiya Kirn, now attending school in Sidney, finished with an 11-2 record and won a bronze medal. She wrestled at 124 pounds.

Wolf Point’s Angelina Escarcega had a record of 10-3. She earned a cooper medal. Escarcega, who is entering her freshman year in high school, wrestled at 100 pounds.

Each of the three area girls earned All-American recognition.

Team Montana placed sixth as a team in the gold division. There were 20 girls’ teams at the meet. This was Montana’s girls first time at the competition. The squad was coached by Zane Wofford of Poplar.
