Wolf Point Falls To Bulls’ Squad
The Post #49 Bulls came away with two victories during American Legion baseball action in Wolf Point on Wednesday, June 30.
After the Bulls cruised to a 20-0 victory in the first game of the double-header, the second contest was a battle with the Bulls scoring five runs in the top of the seventh for a 14-10 win.
Trailing by a 10-8 margin, the Bulls got a run closer when Braeden Romo was hit by a pitch to force home Payton Hauge.
The Bulls’ Parker Sinks crossed the plate on a wild pitch with one out in the top of the seventh for a 1010 deadlock. Colter Oie then belted a triple down the right-field line to bring home Cooper King, Zander Dean and Issac Johnson. Oie ran home on the throw for a 14-10 margin.
Two Wolf Point batters reached base in the bottom of the seventh, but the game ended when shortstop Parker Sinks turned a double play.
Leading the Bulls with two hits each were Hauge, Walker Ator, Johnson and Dean. Leaders in runs batted in were Oie with four and Ator with three. Dean scored four runs and Johnson scored three times.
Dylan Tabbert pitched the game’s final four innings for the victory. He fanned six batters.
Canyon Casterline accounted for two of Wolf Point’s six hits. Casterline led the Yellow Jackets with two runs batted in. Gage Bushman scored three runs and Javan Snyder scored twice.
Bushman pitched a strong first five innings for the Yellow Jackets. He allowed three hits during his time on the mound.
The Bulls led by a 4-2 margin until the Yellow Jackets exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. A single by Terry Allmer knocked home Andrew Dschaak with the first run of the game. A double by Snyder drove in Charlie Page for a 4-4 deadlock.
Casterline then connected for a single to bring home Allmer and Snyder. After Casterline scored on a hit by Boysun, the Yellow Jackets went ahead 6-4 when Trevin Boysun came home on wild pitch. Page then singled to knock home Bushman for a 9-4 lead.
A triple by Ator helped the Bulls close the margin to 9-8 in the top of the fifth.
Wolf Point added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Bushman crossed the plate on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth.
In the first game, the Bulls accounted for 12 runs in the first inning en route to a 20-0 victory.
The Bulls struck for their final five runs in the fifth inning.
Leading the Bulls’ 18-hit attack were Dean and Sinks with three hits each. Adding two hits were Johnson, Oie, Romo and Tabbert.
Oie drove in five runs during the contest. Dean and Johnson had three runs batted in each. Tommerup scored five runs and Dean added four runs.
Page had Wolf Point’s hit in the game.
Ator and Payton Perkins pitched for the Bulls.
