Delta Variant Reported In Montana Counties

The delta variant of coronavirus, a more transmissible strain that is quickly becoming dominant in the U.S., has been documented in Gallatin County.

Two cases of the variant were reported in Gallatin County on Wednesday, July 7, by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Safety.

Cascade County has also confirmed its first case of the Delta COVID-19 variant strain.

The Cascade City-County Health Department said in a news release that early evidence suggests that the Delta variant may be significantly more transmissible, and has recently become the dominant variant strain in the United States.

Area Statistics

As of Sunday, July 11, Roosevelt County has zero active case and no current hospitalizations. There have been 56 COVID-related deaths reported in the county.

As of Monday, July 12, Valley County’s active count was zero. There have been 902 total cases and 18 reported COVID-reported deaths.

Daniels County had zero active cases as of Monday, July 12. The county has 189 recovered cases and 197 cumulative cases. Eight deaths have occurred due to COVID-19 and/or complications.

In McCone County, there is no active cases as of Monday, July 12. There are 182 recovered cases. There has been one COVID-related death in the county.

Phillips County has two active cases as of Monday, July 12. There have been 512 recovered cases and 17 COVID-related deaths. For Richland County, there were seven active cases and 1,230 recovered cases as of Monday, July 12. Total COVID-related deaths are 18. There have been 1,255 total cases.

Statewide

According to Montana health officials, the state’s total number of known cases now stands at 114,325 since the start of the pandemic. There have been 1,465,169 tests conducted.

Around the state, there are 466 active cases. There are 51 active hospitalizations. By Monday, July 12, a total of 1,674 deaths have been reported statewide. A total of 112,185 people have recovered.

Though there is no state mask mandate, local jurisdictions may still choose to implement their own mask requirements. Gov. Gianforte emphasized how providing incentives and encouraging personal responsibility are more effective than imposing unenforceable government mandates.

Vaccine Doses

In Roosevelt County, 5,970 total doses have been administered. There have been 2,966 or 35 percent fully immunizations.

As of Monday, July 12, 874,859 total doses have been administered in Montana. There are 434,242 or 47 percent fully immunized Montanans.
