Froid Council Meets, Holds Annexation Hearing, All-Class Reunion Coming Up
The Froid town council held their regular monthly meeting Monday, July 12. A public hearing was held prior to the meeting to discuss plans for the annexation of properties and extending the town’s boundaries.
One member of the public was present at the hearing. A comment was also received via email from local residents Chad and Melinda Formanek expressing their opposition to the annexation plan. They said they did not expect to have their property affected by a boundary change when they decided to move to the area. A total of 14 property owners will be affected. All properties currently receive town services.
The regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Sheri Crain at 6:35 p.m. The annexation and boundary extension passed.
Town clerk LeAnn Krumwiede Johnson read the minutes for the regular June meeting. The minutes were approved.
During the public works report, the council was told that mowing is nearly done, as are local fire hydrants, which have been repainted. Limited repairs were also made to the town’s old wooden culverts.
The council discussed options for spraying weeds at the lagoon. Spraying them by plane was discussed, as was the purchase of new equipment for the purpose. No action was taken.
The Mint Bar requested permission to block off parts of downtown for the all class reunion planned for August 6-8. The council approved the request.
Water, sewer and garbage accounts were reviewed and claims were approved for payment.
