Tribes Pass Economic Relief Payments For Adults, Children
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board passed a resolution Monday, July 12, setting aside $6,671,500 for economic relief assistance.
Tribal members will receive $500 for adults and $300 for children, according to council sergeant at arms Bruce Damon. “Please give us a few weeks for the applications to come available,” said Damon in a July 12 social media post.
The funding for the payments come from the American Rescue Plan Act and will not be available immediately.
“We are setting aside some of the ARPA Funds in order to assist our fully enrolled members, TEB member Jestin Dupree told the Northern Plains Independent. “We are still in the planning phase for this.”
Applications are still in the works but will be available in coming weeks.
“We just set it aside so far,” said TEB member Kaci Wallette. “We’re working on an application once we have final guidance.”
President Joe Biden signed ARPA into law March 11. $1.9 trillion relief bill includes, but may not be limited to, direct stimulus payments to eligible recipients, unemployment assistance, aid for small businesses, aid to schools and child tax credits.
