Bulls Give Strong Effort Against Glasgow
An excellent pitching performance by Dylan Tabbert and a home run by Issac Johnson highlighted the Bulls’ effort as they battled against Glasgow before falling 4-2 in Froid on Tuesday, July 13.
After the Reds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, the Bulls tied the score when Walker Ator was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force home Johnson.
Glasgow went back with a run in the top of the fourth for a 2-1 advantage.
A solo homer by Johnson over the center-field fence tied the game at 2-2 with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Glasgow scored in the top of the sixth when relief pitcher Payton Hauge did a nice job of getting out of further trouble. The Reds stranded two runners in the frame.
After Glasgow added a run in the top of the seventh, the Bulls’ Zander Dean connected for a double to open the bottom of the seventh. Johnson then singled to put two runners on base with no outs. The Bulls, however, were unable to score in the frame.
Johnson accounted for three of the Bulls’ six hits and scored two runs.
Tabbert pitched the first five innings for the Bulls.
Jack Sprague was the game’s winning pitcher. He fanned six batters and allowed only two hits.
The Bulls lost to Glasgow, 15-3, in the second game of the double-header.
The Reds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Two runs in sixth put Glasgow ahead by a 9-1 margin.
Hauge and Johnson had two hits each for the Bulls. Dean, Hauge and Johnson all connected for doubles.
Scoring runs were Dean, Cooper King and Walker Ator.
