Bulls Drop Loser-out Contest Against Cardinals At Tourney
The Billings Cardinals broke from a 4-4 deadlock in the bottom of the fifth and edged the Post #49 Bulls, 7-4, in loser-out action at the American Legion district baseball tournament in Glasgow on Friday, July 23.
The Bulls trailed by a 4-2 margin until Walker Ator connected for a single to knock home Zander Dean and Issac Johnson with two outs in the top of the fifth inning.
A pair of doubles helped the Cardinals take a 6-4 advantage in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Billings added a run in the sixth, but the Bulls got out of trouble when Dean turned a double play to end the frame.
Johnson reached on an error and Colter Oie singled to open the top of the seventh inning, but the Bulls were unable to score.
Leading the Bulls’ seven-hit attack were Oie and Braeden Romo with two hits each.
Dean scored two of the team’s four runs.
Oie pitched the first four innings while Johnson pitched the final two frames.
The Bulls struck first in the contest when Easton Tommerup scored on a passed ball.
The Cardinals responded with two runs in the bottom of the first.
A double by Romo scored Dean to pull the Bulls to a 2-2 deadlock in the top of the third.
Billings moved back ahead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
