Bulls Fall To Mavericks’ Squad

The Post #49 Bulls played solid defense and received excellent pitching from Walker Ator in their 7-3 loss against a strong Miles City Mavericks’ team on Thursday, July 22.

In the first-round game of the district tournament, Miles City gained a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning despite a nice catch by Issac Johnson in deep center field. The Mavericks added a run in the second for a 3-0 lead.

The Bulls got on the scoreboard in the top of the third when Easton Tommerup singled, stole second and then scored on a hit by Johnson.

Miles City had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the third, but the Bulls got out of the frame on two pop-ups to second baseman Zander Dean.

After the Mavericks scored another run in the fourth for a 4-1 lead, the Bulls got their bats going in the top of the fifth inning.

Tommerup opened the frame with a single and came home on a double by Dean. Johnson then connected for a double to bring Dean home for a 4-3 score. A double play on a line drive prevented the Bulls from adding to their run total.

Miles City tallied one run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 7-3 margin.

Braeden Romo led the Bulls with three hits. Adding two hits each were Tommerup, Dean and Johnson.

Johnson drove in two runs and Dean knocked in one run.

Ator pitched four and twothird innings before reaching the maximum amount of pitches allowed. Payton Hauge and Romo finished the game on the mound.
