The Froid community will have one of the largest celebrations in its history when the 100th anniversary all-class reunion takes place Friday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 8.

“People are coming in literally from all over the United States,” Jim Royan, one of the event’s organizers, said.

He expects more than 200 people including people from Arizona, Texas and Washington state.

Royan, a member of Froid’s class of 1971, said plans started when that class held a Zoom meeting to discuss its 50th class reunion. The class of 1971 featured 24 graduates.

“By the end of the meeting, I was designated to set up the 100th year reunion,” Royan laughed.

The fun will begin with baseball games from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday at the Froid ballpark. Lunch, concessions and a beer garden will be available at the park.

The Froid Community Center will be open for visitors throughout the day.

A supper is set for 5:30-7 p.m. at the Froid Community Center on Friday.

Friday night will be reserved for class gatherings and class photos along with music, dancing and a beer garden.

On Saturday, town-wide garage sales are planned throughout the day.

“There will be a lot of buried treasures to find,” Royan said about the garage sales.

A pancake breakfast is from 8-10 a.m. at the Froid Community Center. Kids’ games including a bouncy house and corn hole are set for 8-10 a.m.

School tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A quilt show and town tours are planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be food trucks available for refreshments.

A car show, being organized by Gale Strandlund, is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. across from the community center. Entries are anticipated to include cars, trucks, motorcycles and antiques.

A free-throw and basketball shooting contest will start at 1 p.m. in Froid’s old gym. After a supper and class reunion programs from 5-7 p.m., there will be an auction and raffles to raise funds for Froid Community Organizations.

The band Sideways will entertain during a dance from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Froid Community Center.

On Sunday, a brunch is planned from 9-11 a.m. The school’s BPA program will serve Norwegian waffles for the brunch.

A multi-denominational church service and closing ceremonies will run from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
