Man Faces Three Charges After Arrest
Vincent Benjamin Putman is scheduled to make his initial appearance in district court on Wednesday, Aug. 11, on three charges.
Putman is facing the charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $10,000.
According to court documents, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint on July 18, at 1:30 a.m., regarding an individual making loud and unusual noises across the street from the Stagecoach Bar in Culbertson.
A deputy saw a Chevy Impala parked beside a tractor/ trailer in front of Hi-Line Services and Hydraulics. The window of the Impala was opened but the engine wasn’t running.
Disturbances were reported near the Culbertson High School and then near the Val-Am convenience store.
The deputy found the male matching the description walking on 1st Avenue West. Putman appeared extremely intoxicated and said he was from Minot, N.D.
Based on Putman’s behavior and the complaint, he was put under arrest and the deputy secured his property in a zippered bag.
When booking occurred at the jail, an officer allegedly discovered a plastic baggie tucked inside Putman’s wallet. The baggie contained apparent drug residue. The substance tested positive for cocaine.
During an interview, Putman’s memory wasn’t cleared, but he remembered he “freaked out” and beat on his car because it broke down and stopped running. He said he hasn’t used cocaine in months and forgot the baggie was in his wallet.
