Wolf Point Approves Safe Return To Schools Plan Wolf Point Approves Safe Return To Schools Plan

After holding community meetings and gaining additional input, the Wolf School Board adopted a safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services plan on Monday, Aug. 9.

“This document can change as needed,” Wolf Point Superintendent of Schools Loverty Erickson said during the school board meeting. “We’re open to change.”

She added that the document will be discussed with the Fort Peck tribal education committee on Monday, Aug. 16, for its input.

Erickson said vaccination is the leading public health prevention strategy to end COVID-19 as per CDC, so the school strongly suggests all who come into the schools receive their vaccinations.

The plan asks that individuals stay away from school if they are showing symptoms of COVID-19, they have been quarantined or if they or a family member is awaiting COVID-19 test results.

Masks will be optional and will be available at the school. School officials encourage no discrimination to either party and strive to make a positive climate for all.

All schools will return to on-site instruction. There will be no remote learning options. All alternative learning options will be the same as prior to COVID. Social distancing will be encouraged by students and staff when possible per CDC guidelines.

School nutrition (breakfast and lunch) will return to “normal” pre-COVID, with attention to increased cleaning and sanitizing. Erickson said the salad bar will return.

Water foundations will be returned to pre-COVID usage, both fountains and water bottle fill ups. Students are strongly encouraged to bring transparent water bottles to be kept at the schools.

Playground equipment will be open for all students. The custodial staff will disinfect daily, weather permitting. All schools will return to the use of lockers and/or cubbies.

As far as social and emotional and behavioral elements, all students will have access to school counselors, mental health providers and therapists upon existing cases and referrals via regular processes. All schools will continue the use of the Social Emotional Learning Program called HOWL (Helping Outstanding Wolves to Lead) to reengage students into the rigor of face-toface instruction.
