Poplar School Plans For New Year

The Poplar School District is prepared to start its school year on Thursday, Aug. 26.

The school district will conduct new staff orientation on Monday, Aug. 23. The staff will have a PIR day on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

After last week’s school board meeting, Poplar has a full teaching staff for the 2021-2022 school year.

“We’re ready to go,” Poplar Superintendent of Schools Dan Schmidt said. “Everybody is hired.”

The Poplar School Board has approved an operating plan for the upcoming school year. Decisions of operational status may adjust throughout this school year as public health situations change.

Poplar will have full scale on-campus instruction. There will be no remote learning options. Wearing masks will be optional.

There will still be visitor screenings conducted at entrances. Custodial care and disinfecting will take place in classrooms.

School officials urge that individuals stay home if they show signs of COVID-19 symptoms, if they or a family member are awaiting COVID test results and they have been quarantined.

“It’s an ever changing document that goes with any public health concerns that might arise,” Schmidt said.
