Population For County Slightly Increases
Roosevelt County is slowly growing, according to population figures recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The county’s population is listed as 10,794 which is an increase of 369 people or 4 percent since 2010.
Gallatin County was the Montana county with the largest gain as it increased by 33 percent or 29,447 people. The county’s population now is 118,960.
Yellowstone County was second with an increase of 11 percent to 164,731.
Also in the top five for increases were Flathead at 15 percent or 13,429 people, Missoula at 8 percent or 8,623 and Lewis and Clark at 12 percent or 7,578.
Richland County ranked ninth with an increase of 1,745 people to 11,491.
Counties with the largest decreases were Rosebud, Liberty, Toole, Pondera and Stillwater.
The cities of Wolf Point and Poplar each experienced slight population increases. Wolf Point’s population decreased by 4 percent to 2,517 and Poplar decreased by 6 percent to 758.
During the 10-year span, Bainville increased by 30 percent to 271 residents. Culbertson increased by 5 percent to 753. Froid increased by 5 percent to 195.
Bozeman enjoyed the largest increase with 16,013 more people for a population of 53,293. Billings grew by 12,946 to 117,116. Also in the top five were Missoula, Kalispell and Helena. Sidney was ninth with an increase of 1,155 to 6,346.
