Fire Blotter Sept. 27: A grass fire burned 70 acres near milemarker 29 on Montana Highway 13 north of Wolf Point. The cause of the fire is unknown. Trucks 17-9, 17-8 and 17-4 responded.
Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Fourth Avenue North at 7:43 p.m. with Truck 17-7.
Sept. 28: Firefighters responded to a grass fire that burned 24.5 acres on Slaughterhouse Road at 8:01 p.m. Trucks 17-9, 17-8, 17-1, 17-5, 17-4 and command responded.
Sept. 29: WPVFD responded to a large grass fire eight miles north of Wolf Point on Road 1076 at 1:34 p.m. Now named the Badger Hole Fire, the fire ultimately burned over 3,000 acres. Mutual aid was received from fire departments from Scobey, Glasgow Long Run, Valley County, Poplar, Culbertson and Froid. Trucks 17-9, 17-8, 171, 17-5, 17-4, 17-3 and command responded.
Sept. 30: Two trucks, 17-8 and 17-9, responded to a possible rekindle of the Badger Hole Fire. It was a “good intent” call and no flareup was found.
Truck 17-8 performed patrol on the Badger Hole Fire at 7:40 a.m.
Trucks 17-1, 17-8 and 17-9 responded to a grass fire on BIA Route 1 at 3:15 p.m. south of UPS.
Oct. 1: Truck 17-8 continued to monitor the Badger Hole Fire area at noon.
Oct. 3: A possible structure fire was reported on the 400 block of Knorr Street at 12:52 p.m. Engine 8 and 17-8 responded. A burnt pizza in the oven was the cause of the smoke.
A grass fire 2.4 miles west of Wolf Point was reported at 6:01 p.m. Two trucks responded plus command.
