Benson Brings Experience To Southside


New Southside Elementary School teacher Amy Benson brings 14 years combined teaching experience to the Wolf Point community.
She has taught previously in Utah and at Malta, Harlem and Rocky Boy, all at elementary grade levels. She also taught third and fourth grade at Hinsdale.
Benson told the of Northern Plains Independent that she and her family relocated to Wolf Point because they felt it was time for a change.
Benson’s husband Frank is the new head girls’ basketball coach and teaches physical education. Her son Juliun is a junior at Wolf Point High School. She has two older children, Jazmin, 22, and Jeremiah, 18.
Benson graduated from Montana State University Northern in 2006 with a degree in K-8 education.
She said one thing her students might not guess about her is that she is Hispanic as well as Native American.
Benson’s hobbies include sports and reading. She said her family travels regularly for sports and she enjoys reading young adult titles like the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series.
