The Poplar Indians dropped their season finale by a 44-12 margin against Circle on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Circle led by a 44-6 halftime margin in the conference football game. “We played the best second half that we had all season,” Poplar Coach Joe I Iammar said.

“It was our best half of the season.”

Scoring touchdowns for the Indians were Mitchell Youngman on a punt return and Adrien Matuck on a pass from M. Youngman. Other standouts for the Indians were Jacob Berger at fullback and Canaan Boyd on defense, Hammar said M. Youngman had an outstanding game on the defensive side.

Although Poplar didn’t win a game in its first season in Class C football, Hammar feels the move was a benefit for the team. Poplar played the second half against Circle with only 12 players.
