Officers for the 2021-2022 Optimist Year were installed Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center. The new officers were installed by past Optimist Lieutenant Governor Ruth A. Boysun, who used the very inspiring “Reflections” installation ceremony.

New officers include Carol Neutgens, president; Elsie Hanson and Patricia Stennes, vice presidents; Gloria Sande, secretary/treasurer; Lovella Landsrud, Larry Neutgens and Helen Welte, one-year directors; and Susie Davis, Dennis Nelson and AJ Allen, two-year directors. Eric Nelson will serve as the OI Foundation representative this year.

Elizabeth Strader, Allen, Hanson and Sande were presented certificates of appreciation for all their efforts with the projects of the club this year. Dennis Nelson was selected Optimist of the Year and received a certificate from president Carol Neutgens.

A moment of silence was observed for member Willard Landsrud. Comments on the past year’s events and discussion of upcoming events also filled in the evening. The need for more new, younger members was also addressed.

The Optimist Club of Wolf Point is part of the District 13 — Alberta-Montana-Saskatchewan and Northern Wyoming District of Optimist International and Zone 9, which is one of a very few, if not the only, truly international zone in Optimist International with Wolf Point being the only American club in that zone and the other clubs are all Canadian.
