Poplar Takes Rocky Boy Squad To Five Sets


Poplar took Rocky Boy to the limit in non-conference volleyball action on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
Rocky Boy edged the Indians by a 25-15, 21-25, 20-25, 2516, 15-6, final.
The Stars jumped out to an 18-9 advantage in the first set, but Poplar battled back to 2214.
Rocky Boy scored the set’s final point on an ace by Kazmira St. Pierre. Ahead by a 4-3 margin in the second set, the Indians ran off to a 10-5 lead on a kill by Madison Dehner, two aces by Morgen Nordwick and a spike by Lanie Moran.
With the margin at 17-12, Poplar took control with an ace by Nordwick, a back-row kill by Nordwick and a hit by EmmaRae Martell for a 22-13 advantage.
A kill by Dehner put the Indians ahead 24-17. Rocky Boy fought back as close as 24-21 before Poplar ended the set.
In a back-and-forth set, the Indians were able to fight off Rocky Boy by a 25-20 margin. Rocky Boy, however, scored a 25-16 victory in the fourth set and then won the fifth set by a 15-6 final.
