Commission Considers Two Congressional Maps
The Montana Districting and Apportionment Commission will meet on Saturday, Oct. 30, to consider Montanan’s thoughts on two proposals to divide the state into two congressional districts. The commission seeks public input on Commission Proposals 10 and 11. Written comments are particularly encouraged, either directly on interactive maps of the proposals or using the commission’s webform.

At the meeting on Oct. 30, the commissioners will listen to verbal public comments during the morning. In the afternoon, they will select a single map for another public hearing on Nov. 4. An agenda and information on how the public can participate in the meeting are available at the commission’s website.
The meeting will be streamed live online at the Montana Legislature’s website, leg.mt.gov, and broadcast on the Montana Public Affairs Network.
Written public comments are encouraged. Written comments are taken directly on the interactive maps online, through the commission’s webform, by email at districting@mt.gov or by mail to Districting and Apportionment Commission, PO Box 201706, Helena, MT 59620.
Written comments received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, will be provided to commissioners that evening. Comments received after that time but before 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 29, will be given to the commissioners prior to or at the meeting. Written comments received after that time or during the meeting will be given to the commissioners before the Nov. 4 meeting.
