The Culbertson/Bainville girls’ cross-country squad brought home hardware from the Class C state meet held in Missoula on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Culbertson /Bainville earned second with 59 points. Manhattan Christian won the team title with 47 points. Park City placed third with 66 points.

Culbertson /Bainville coach Dave Solem said this was the first time that the girls earned a team trophy from the state meet since a second-place showing in Missoula during 2008.

Leading the way on Saturday was Emma Poser with a time of 21:33.32 for sixth place.

“It was a nice surprise, she definitely had a breakout performance that helped the team,” Solem said. “The coaching staff was very happy for her.”

Kayli Olson finished in 19th place at 23:04.52. Autumn Bergum placed 34th at 24:33.12.

Destiny Thompson earned 41st at 25:06.19. Megan Granbois took 42nd at 25:06.80.

“We entered the meet in sixth place and finished in second so we were very satisfied,” Solem said. “The girls fought hard to earn second place, it was truly a team effort by Emma, Kayli, Autumn, Megan and Destiny that made it happen.”

Lindsey Paulson of Belt/ Centerville was the individual champion with a time of 19.00.88. Plentywood’s Annie Kaul finished second at 19:56.60 and Scobey’s Mya Green took third at 19:59.61.

Other Eastern A girls earning All-State status included Whitewater’s Shelbi Labrie in seventh, Scobey’s Mia Handran in eighth, MonDak’s Elizabeth Field in 11th and MonDak’s Sayler Stewart in 13th.

Scobey and Whitewater tied for fourth place in the team standings with 68 points each while Plentywood took sixth with 69 points.

The Culbertson/Bainville boys took ninth in the team standings with 129 points. Manhattan Christian won the state title with eight points followed by Belt/Centerville with 24 and Richey/Lambert with 43.

Nyreece Halvorson led Culbertson/Bainville with a time of 21:05.39 for 40th place. Drae Nelson ran the course in 21:16.80 for 43rd place.

Wyatt Snyder took 46th place at 21:20.56. Dawson Bergum finished 69th at 22:51.77.

Trevor Green placed 74th at 23:34.10, Isaiah Bighorn took 79th at 23:43.48. Maurice Bighorn placed 83rd at 24:08.62.

Manhattan Christian’s Oren Arthun finished first with a time of 16:52.55.

Eastern C boys earning All- State honors were Matthew Ellerton of Richey/Lambert in seventh and Robin James of Richey/Lambert in 12th.

Running at the meet for Brockton’s boys were Quinn’Dale Prettypaint with a time of 21:19.55 for 45th place and Quannah First That Walks with a time of 27:03.33 for 101st place.
