Creator’s Game Horsemanship Clinic Hosted In Poplar
Spotted Bull Treatment Center director Dale Four Bear, Vanessa Hardy and Rachel Azure hosted a twoday horsemanship clinic and rodeo school Oct. 30-31 with three-time PRCA World Champion Marty Hawkeye Henson and INFR qualifier and PRCA member Marty Young Bear. The event was held at the Poplar Rodeo Grounds. It was sponsored by Spotted Bull.
According to Carrie Manning, Hardy and previous rodeo queens helped with the clinic, including Hayoon Rush, Alivia Hvinden, Mariah Simmons and 2021 Wild Horse Stampede Miss Teen Rodeo Samantha Reed.
“A good handful of kids attended on the first day,” Reed told the Northern Plains Independent.
“About 15 showed up for the horsemanship side of things. And the second day we had probably about ten.”
Reed said her highlight was getting the honor to teach kids about horses and how to be safe around them.
“My hopes with this clinic is that we shared enough knowledge with those kids that we can prevent any accidents involving horses. We touched on how to approach a horse safely, how to halter and saddle, how to lead, and how to ride and control the horse. I am so excited to see how these kids take this knowledge and just find their passions.”
According to Reed, Nakoa Heavyrunner served as announcer and Marty Hansen taught most of the roughstock. Monty Hansen, AJ Krasco and Walter Ozark were pickup men.
