Froid/Lake Splits Opening 1C Matches

Froid/Lake defeated Savage in a five-set match during the opening round of the District 1C volleyball tournament in Scobey on Thursday, Oct. 28.

The Red Hawks won by a 23-25, 25-15, 25-15, 24-26, 15-6, final.

In the fifth set, Froid/Lake trailed 3-2 but gained the lead on a pair of kills by Carolyne Christoffersen. Two kills by Mara Salvevold put the Red Hawks ahead by a 7-4 margin. Froid/Lake was able to increase its advantage to 10-4 on a kill by Jaeleigh Davidson and a spike by Salvevold.

Dasani Nesbit scored two kills for a 14-5 lead. After a kill by Savage’s Teah Conradsen, Nesbit ended the match with another kill.

Christoffersen led Froid/ Lake’s attack with 19 kills.

Aleah Johnson accounted for three aces and nine digs.

Meg Ator finished with 25 assists. Nesbit had five blocks.

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks put together a strong comeback but lost in five sets against North Country during the District 1C volleyball tournament in Scobey on Friday, Oct. 29.

North Country won by a 25-17, 25-21, 13-25, 17-25, 15-10 final.

After dropping the first two sets, the Red Hawks provided a much improved effort during the last three sets of the second-round match.

The net play of Dasani Nesbit dominated play early in the third set to put Froid/ Lake ahead 6-0. Kills by Jaeleigh Davidson, Carolyne Christoffersen and Nesbit increased the gap to 9-1.

North Country battled back to 12-11 on kills by Teagan Erickson and Paige Wasson, but kills and aces by Baylee Davidson put the Red Hawks ahead 18-12.

Two kills and a block by Nesbit gave the Red Hawks a 24-13 lead en route to the 2513 win.

Froid/Lake jumped out to a 13-3 advantage in the fourth set, but the Mavericks closed the margin to 15-14. Kills by Christoffersen, Nesbit and Mara Salvevold produced a 21-17 lead.

The Red Hawks then closed out the fourth set on an ace by B. Davidson and two net winners by Nesbit.

After North Country gained a 6-3 lead in the fifth set, a pair of kills by Christoffersen kept the Red Hawks close at 9-6.

A kill by B. Davidson and an ace Salvevold closed North Country’s lead to 11-8.

After the Mavericks scored two points, a kill by J. Davidson cut the margin to 13-10. North Country accounted for the last two points on a block by T. Erickson and a kill by Wasson.

Leaders for the Red Hawks in the match were Christoffersen with 13 kills and Nesbit with 13 blocks.

Meg Ator had 18 assists. B. Davidson served four aces. Aleah Johnson finished with 12 digs.
