The Froid/Lake Red Hawks won three straight matches on Saturday, Oct. 30, to earn second place at the District 1C volleyball tournament held in Scobey.

The Red Hawks downed North Country, 25-27, 25-13, 19-25, 25-16, 15-8, in the second- place match on Saturday afternoon.

Down by two sets to one, the Red Hawks gained an 1811 lead in the fourth set on kills by Dasani Nesbit and Baylee Davidson. An ace by Aleah Johnson and a kill by Nesbit increased the margin to 21-13.

Ahead by a 23-16 margin, Froid/Lake ended the fourth set on two kills by Christoffersen.

In the fifth set, a kill by Nesbit put the Red Hawks ahead 6-5. A tip by Christoffersen gave Froid/Lake an 11-5 advantage.

The Red Hawks kept rolling and moved ahead 14-7 on an ace by Meg Ator. A kill by B. Davidson ended the match.

The Red Hawks lost a very well-played championship match against undefeated Plentywood by a 16-25, 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 14-16 final.

Froid/Lake took a 10-8 lead in the fifth set on a kill by Jaeleigh Davidson and a block by Nesbit. Another block by Nesbit put the Red Hawks ahead 13-9. After two kills by Plentywood’s Emma Brensdal, Christoffersen scored a kill for a 14-11 advantage.

Plentywood accounted for the final five points including a kill and two aces by Brensdal and a block by Kate Simonson.

Froid/Lake will face Circle at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, during the Eastern C divisional tournament in Sidney.
