Bulldogs Aim To Move Up In League
Bainville’s boys’ basketball team is optimistic as the Bulldogs return several key players from last season’s squad.
Returning starters for the Bulldogs include senior Braden Romo, senior Jesse Strickland, sophomore Chuck Butikofer and sophomore Samuel Butikofer.
Romo was an All-Conference second team selection last season.
“Having four returning helps us keep growing as a team and build on experience,” Bainville Coach Jess Romo said. “It should make for a nice combination of size and speed, and build confidence in each other’s familiarity.”
The Bulldogs are looking for other players to step up during the campaign.
“However we’re still lacking in experience coming off the bench,” Coach Romo said. “We have a lot of guys out this season so we’ll hope to see some new faces getting some valuable playing time.”
The coach expects Bainville to be in contention for a divisional berth this season.
“It should be a fun year, as we expect to be more competitive after seeing that fifth/ sixth spot the last couple of years,” Coach Romo said.
Froid/Lake appears to be the team to beat heading into the league schedule.
“As usual we are excited to see what the 2C has to offer, with Froid/Lake being a front runner,” Coach Romo said. “I see Plentywood and Fairview mixing things up in the top five.”
The Bulldogs will host Brockton on Friday, Dec. 3, and Froid/Lake on Saturday, Dec. 4.
The District 2C tournament is scheduled for Feb. 1419 in Sidney, and the Eastern C divisional tournament is Feb. 23-26 in Sidney.
