Three solid players lead the Lustre girls’ basketball squad into the upcoming season.
Sophomores Alexa Reddig, Grace Brown and Aubri Holzrichter are each returning starters. Reddig earned All-State recognition last season.
Each of the three girls have started since eighthgraders.
“They have played a lot of ball,” Lustre coach Bill Reddig said. “We’re a young team, but they are in their third year as starters.”
The Lions have an impressive turnout of 12 girls this season.
“It’s the best turnout we’ve had for a while,” Coach Reddig said. “The new girls are all inexperienced players but have decided to play.”
Inexperience is Lustre’s greatest weakness at this point of the season.
“They just need some time,” Coach Reddig said.
North Country and Scobey are the league favorites heading into the
campaign. “My goal is to make it to divisionals again like last year,” Coach Reddig said.
The Lions will open their season at the tip-off tournament in Glasgow. Lustre plays Turner on Friday, Dec. 3, and Plentywood on Saturday, Dec. 4.
The district tournament is scheduled in Wolf Point on Feb. 16-19. The divisional tournament is Feb. 22-27 in Sidney.
